History

  • Jetstar Group comprises Jetstar Australia, Jetstar New Zealand, Jetstar Asia, Valuair, Jetstar Japan, Jetstar Hong Kong and Jetstar Pacific in Vietnam
  • Network of value based carriers providing low fares across Australia, New Zealand and the Asia Pacific region
  • Established by Qantas in 2003 as a low cost domestic carrier
  • Carried first passengers in 2004 and commenced international services to New Zealand in 2005
  • Based in Singapore, Jetstar Asia took to the skies in December 2004
  • Singapore carrier Valuair became sister airline of Jetstar Asia in 2005 focusing on destinations within Indonesia
  • Jetstar Asia is majority owned by Singaporean company Westbrook Investments (51 per cent) with Qantas Group owning the rest
  • Jetstar Pacific was Vietnam's first value based carrier and transformed from Pacific Airlines to Jetstar Pacific in May 2008
  • Jetstar Pacific is majority owned by Vietnam Airlines (approximately 70 per cent) with the Qantas Group holding 30 per cent
  • Jetstar Pacific operates an existing seven aircraft fleet made up of five 737s and two A320s to seven destinations across Vietnam
  • Jetstar Japan commenced services within Japan in 2012 and looks to go international during 2013
  • Jetstar Hong Kong will commence services in 2013 subject to regulatory approval and plans to fly short haul services to destinations in Greater China, Japan, South Korea and Southeast Asia with a fleet of 3 new A320-200s
  • Jetstar intends to become the world's first global low cost airline and plans to expand to Europe and the Americas

1 Star = Appalling don't risk your life

2 Stars = Better than riding a donkey

3 Stars = Not bad I can't wait till I can fly business class

4 Stars = Enjoyed the flight and would recommend to my friends & family

5 Stars = Excellent flight, next best thing to a private jet
